⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5
If you've read any of my other recent book reviews, you'll already know that I start each book review in the same way - every book I read and review starts off with the full needle of 5 stars and I'm always hopeful that they'll all still be permanently in place by the time I close the back cover. You'll also know that I'm not shy about removing stars if I feel it necessary, but that I always give my reasons for knocking each one off, they don't just vanish into thin air.
I've had a busy week this week so I'm hoping that this book will slow things down for me and it will be a five star book by the time I finish it.
Let's get going with the reading and reviewing shall we?
OK, so the second page tells me that it's set in America, so I won't knock off stars for spelling differences between the UK and the US as long as they are consistent.
Yup, definitely an American spelling book 'cos of the use of "mom" already.
Oh dear. The first use of a well-known, fictional character is making the first star wobbly already and I'm only a few pages into the first chapter!!
Ooh! The first chapter ended on a potentially lethal note! No spoilers, don't worry, but I'm glad I didn't start reading this before I headed to bed, just in case!
More tension at the end of the second chapter - the author has really got me interested... could this final book of the series that I'm prolly reading out of order be a 5 star book already??
Up to chapter 5 now and the chapters that I've just read were handled brilliantly - there was so much potential to give me nightmares for weeks but the author got it spot on.
I've just finished the fifth chapter and it sounds like the author is rapidly building up to the x-rated stuff, so I'm gonna stop commenting on each chapter and only comment on the big things now...
Up to chapter 15 and I'm regretting indulging in a food with an allergen in it. I want to give this delicious book my full attention and I can't while I'm feeling so bleh, so I'm gonna stop reading for a while and try and calm my belly again. I'm 2 pages away from being a third of the way through so to get 15 chapters in and still be 5 stars is a good thing though!
Gonna attempt to read a little bit more before I head to bed... hopefully to the end of the chapter that's a third of the way through the book.
Wowsers! Chapter 15 was an incredibly intense way to finish off my reading for the day! I'm at 36% now and I can't wait for tomorrow!
Chapter 19 gave me an insight into the inner workings of these three men's minds and it was a real eye-opener!
Chapter 22 was... unexpected!
I'm at 60% now... how far will I get before bedtime tonight?
Ooh dear... could Crow be making demands to the wrong person?
I've read 28 chapters and I'm both fuming and worried right now. I'm gonna read another chapter before I head to bed and hope it doesn't give me nightmares...
Up to chapter 30 and 69% now... do I risk one more chapter now that I'm not at all sleepy or will that be a bad choice?
That's chapter 30 read and it's time for beddy-byes now, but I doubt I'll sleep peacefully! Only 28% left to read tomorrow... I'm really hoping that it'll be a happy ever after, considering how much violence there has been so far!
Sooo glad I didn't keep reading any farther last night after the grossness of the last few chapters lol
What an ending to a truly great book!
A definite must-read if you're over 18 and don't mind blood and guts!
