Book Review: "One Christmas Eve" by Shari Low

"One Christmas Eve" by Shari Low

Kindle Unlimited     Audiobook     Hardcover     Paperback

⭐ out of 5

If you've read any of my other recent book reviews, you'll already know that I start them all off in the same way, which is by saying that every book I read and review starts off with the full sleigh-load of 5 stars and I'm always hopeful that they will all still be stuck firmly in place by the time I close the back cover.  You'll also know that I'm not shy about removing stars if I feel it appropriate, but I always give my reasons for doing so within the review - stars don't just vanish into thin air!

I'm starting this book at lunchtime on Boxing Day, let's see how long it takes me to finish it off.

Oh dear.  I'm only on the first page and the first star is already wobbly because of the use of a potentially trademarked site without permission... not a good start, Shari!

And the first sentence uses a famous singer potentially without permission, so one more wobble and I'll be taking the first star off.

And the first star is gone at the last paragraph on the second page.  I'm really hoping it'll pick up from here, but I'm already bored silly and I've only read 2 pages!

I've lost count of the pages I've read but I'm sitting here bored out of my tree so the second star is coming off in the first chapter... not looking good that I'll finish this book, unfortunately!

Less than 2 pages later and I'm skipping ahead... the author is supposed to be a bestseller for flips sake - I'm glad I got this on Kindle Unlimited so that I didn't have to shell out perfectly good money on boring my brains out!  Third star coming off in the first chapter - 3 down, 1 to go before it becomes another DNF.

Skipped ahead up to chapter 4 now... will the author have got into her groove by now??

The first paragraph has got the names of 3 posh clothes shops and I can pretty much guarantee that they won't have given the author permission to use their brand names in this book, so after reading less than 10 pages, the fourth and final star comes off and this is another DNF unfortunately.
