He wasn't kidding about it being an entirely new front of roof... he's just sent me 6 photos and over the last 2 days of absolutely back-breaking hard physical labour I've gone from nothing to totally new felt (the white bit faces into the house and the black is what points outwards underneath the tiles) to new batens throughout (they are wooden bits that go the full length of the roof and go on top of the felt) then some huuuuge tiles that look like they could keep a hurricane out lol The gulley that was completely crammed with plants is now completely clear too.
