For the last time in 2023 it's nite nite orl and I'll see you on the other side of JanNo.
Happy New Year to those who celebrate it.
Nite nite orl.
...there's very likely to be less blog posts for most of January 'cos of JanNo and I won't be opening my emails until I've finished it. If there's something urgent that can't wait, send me a text, just don't expect me to reply quickly.
I'll be back as soon as I can, but NaNo and JanNo are the only times that I'm selfish because they are the only times I can get out of my head for a while.
Keep your fingers crossed that I can do it in amongst my bathroom being pretty much totally replaced!
See you on the other side.
Gooood morning everyone!
I didn't get my early night as planned 'cos someone on Freegle said they were on their way to my house to pick up something that I hadn't promised them so had to wait up for them for almost an hour but they didn't turn up.
I've taken my morning pills with my first glass of water of the day and I've got a decaff tea on the go to try and warm me up a bit while I wait for my last carer of the week... will she be good or bad at her job or will she just get in the way?
The virus scan was still clear, thankfully, so that's OK.
Gotta remember to ask Marie to go and pick up the stuff from my docs next week for me, which I doubt she'll be happy with unfortunately. Need to remember to refill my dosette box and charge up my FitBit too.
This first blog post is already too long, so I'm gonna leave it there and make a start on putting my to-do list together.
Another early night tonight, and I'm really hoping I'll be able to fall asleep and stay asleep tonight, without tossing and turning for an hour then being restless the rest of the night.
I'll see you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.
...because I'm lonely, nothing more, nothing less.
My usual drink of choice is drinking chocolate, then a decaff mocha, but as long as it's hot I'll make it and drink it.
My thirst is purely psychosomatic 'cos I don't drink anywhere near as much when I'm around other people, but when I'm here alone I drink at least 3 litres a day which is OK according to my GP but I'm gasping for another drink but I've already drunk more than that today and I've still gotta drink with my last two pills of the day too. I can pretty much guarantee I'll have drunk a litre before my morning carer shows up tomorrow and another 500ml before I'm picked up, another 1.3 litres while I'm out and another litre when I get home.
I just don't have anything to stop me from drinking!
When Steve was alive I'd use the time making sure he was still breathing and making his meals and drinks while he was awake but now that there's only one person to boil the kettle for, I'm not limited to how much I drink any more.
I reckon I'm gonna go and make myself the night-time herbal tea in the hope that I can sleep through tonight instead of waking up every few hours like I did last night after I finally shut my brain down.
Today's lunch was just my usual mug of instant vegetable Cup Soup and the last 3 iced mince pies in the box. My carer decided to spend the entire 18 minutes leaned against the kitchen sink, using her phone instead of doing what I pay for - helping me to make my lunch... not to worry, I'm used to them being useless and earning money for doing literally nothing (other than using their phones to watch You Tube videos or text/WhatsApp people they know) or getting in the way <shrug>
Here's today's lunch photo:
Breakfast this morning was the last two slices of wholemeal 'Toastie' toast and dairy-free spread with an orange juice. I've also had two mugs of drinking chocolate with a good amount of vegan squirty cream on the top... it had pretty much disappeared by the time I brought the mug in here though lol I've got some vegan marshmallows to try too, so maybe I could crack them open when I've had my 'Fresh Orange' tea?
Here's today's breakfast photo:
What an afternoon I had yesterday! I'm still recovering 11-ish hours later!
I've popped my morning pills and set the daily virus scan off as well as having had my first ever semi-fully loaded drinking chocolate with squirty cream but no marshmallows - yet!
I'm gonna try the Omega gummies after my morning carer has left and I've had my breakfast and have a bath and shave to hopefully help my body to recover even better when I've had my lunch. Gotta remember to ask Marie to pick up the paperwork from my GP surgery next week so that I can make a start on writing the book about my WKE... gonna write my JanNo novel first though!
Time to put today's to-do list together me-thinks.
BBIAB
A bit earlier than normal, but I'm absolutely cream-crackered so I'm having a well-deserved early night tonight and not planning on moving far from the sofa tomorrow other than when I have my weekly bath.
I'll see you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.
My youngest nephew has just left and he was a total whirlwind again! I'm absolutely shattered, stiff as a board, in pain and soooo unsteady but I wouldn't have had it any other way.
I'm gonna finish my reward then take my pills and head straight on up to beddy-byes methinks.
I completely forgot to put up yesterday's lunch photos of a mug of instant vegetable Cup Soup, a packet of vegan bacon flavour rashers crisps and 3 mince pies for pud to really send my calories through the roof.
It was the same for lunch today, minus the mince pies.
Here are the four photos of my last two meals:
I've just seen an email that my brother sent at 7.48pm last night, saying that they'll be with me at 3.30pm today!! I get to see my youngest nephew again, but I've only been given 20 hours notice and apparently we'll be walking to a park as well which I've already told my mum I can't do!
It'll be good to see them all, but I don't think they've grasped just how weak and feeble I am!
I had almost 9 hours sleep but I'm still wiped out, stiff as a board, in pain and wobbly but then I've had a busy week so that's to be expected.
I've popped my morning pills with my morning glass of water and I've just finished a mug of drinking chocolate too so hopefully I'll stay on my feet today. I'm not planning on moving far from the sofa, that's for sure!
Gotta remember to charge up my FitBit today, so I'll try and remember to do it after I've got washed and dressed with my carer.
Someone is coming over to pick up a few things this afternoon, so hopefully they will arrive in plenty of time for me to take my pills and crawl up to bed again.
I've got some vegan Omega gummies that I wanna try having today too, as well as fully loadability for drinking chocolates so might try those after lunch too.
My daily virus scan was reassuringly clear so I'm gonna publish this now and try putting my day's to-do list together before my morning carer arrives.
BBIAB
I'm absolutely exhausted so I'm gonna head straight on up to bed.
I'll see you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.

If you've read any of my other recent book reviews, you will already know that I start them all off in the same way and that is by saying that every book I read and review starts off with the full trolley-load of stars and that I'm always hopeful that they will all still be stuck firmly in place by the time I close the back cover. You'll also know that I'm not shy about removing stars as I feel necessary, but I always give my reasons for removing each one. The usual reason for me making an otherwise 5 star book into a 4 star book is 'cos of copyright or trademark infringement - there's been one book so far with a magic little sentence at the back that made me instantly replace that lost star and I'm more than happy to do it again if that magic little sentence appears again!
Let's get going with the reading and reviewing.
I've already decided that there's no way I wanna be a paramedic or even in the same ambulance as that nutter of a paramedic!
I've read 20% of the book, my hot drink has become tepid and I'm not in touch with my reality any more now!
Up to 33% now and the last chapter was pretty hard going... no spoilers don't worry, but it's hard to imagine what they must go through when it happens!
Oh deary me - that chapter told me how to thieve scrubs from a hospital and the paramedic said that they'd done and got away with it several times too! Not good.
I'm at 52% now and soooo glad I'm not a medical bod working in a hospital!
I'm glad I've never been in that situation with an ambulance lol
Tis true... small women have had to learn how to look after themselves and the bigger the height difference, the easier it is lol
That's one of the big reasons I've never seen the appeal of getting drunk lol
Oh yes, a fantastic little book, although I don't recommend reading the last chapter just before you go to bed lol
All in all a very much 5 star book that I haven't found a single thing to moan about! A definite light-hearted medical read!
...a mocktail after lunch
The physio has just gone for the last time and it'll be the last time I see her. I've got some balance things to do but I've just gotta keep doing those while I hold on in the kitchen and keep trying to go on walks to the postbox and up and down the road.
There's no more physio exercises to do any more, just keep trying the balancing in the kitchen whenever I remember and feel up to it and the walking up and down while I wait for Marie to come and pick me up to go to wherever.
It's up to me to keep trying though, the physio won't be coming back any more, so it's just me and the carers now.
My first breakfast for 7 days was two slices of wholemeal 'Toastie' toast with dairy-free spread and a 250ml bottle of orange juice. I've also had 400g of seedless black grapes and I'm currently slurping my way through a 500ml mug of 'Relax' tea so my belly is nice and full now and it won't matter so much that I'm just having a mug of instant soup for lunch.
Here's today's first breakfast photo for a week:
How's things in your neck of the woods today?
Me?
I'm sooo cold but I've already set the monthly virus scan off, taken my morning pills, sorted out the other seat on the sofa and taken another couple of photos for things to put on Freegle.
I'm expecting a couple of deliveries today (and another one tomorrow) and I've got my physio due this morning too so it's all go for me today!
I've gotta contact Steve's bank about sending something back to them and the Council about what to do with my previous Blue Badge, then I just need to file a couple of things and that's it then.
Gonna publish this and make a start on putting together today's to-do list... can't wait to have breakfast this morning for the first time in a week!
I'm absolutely cream-crackered and the side-effects of my last two pills of the day are rapidly kicking in, so I'm gonna head straight to beddy-byes methinks.
It's the monthly virus scan tomorrow as well as potentially the last physio visit so I'm gonna be cream-crackered tomorrow too... I just hope she doesn't expect me to leave the house tomorrow otherwise I'll end up on the floor and not be able to get back to my feet!
I'm signing off for the night now.
See you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.
The bread was delivered!
I can have toast for breakfast tomorrow!
The dairy-free squirty cream was delivered too so I can have a fully-loaded drinking chocolate tomorrow to put my calorie count through the roof at last!
I've got 7 packets of high calorie vegan crisps in the drawers too, so I really have got no excuse not to send my calorie count through the roof for the rest of this week!
...the bread is actually delivered today (unlike last week) I'll be able to have breakfast again at last!
The drinking chocolate will be a nerve-wracking experiment 'cos 3 of the 4 tubs have been replaced with a more expensive substitution. I've checked the ingredients and there doesn't seem to be an allergen in it, so I'll hopefully be OK with it, but I'll have to wait and see I guess... it's £1 more expensive per tub but it's a well-known brand so it had better be worth it!
The allergen-free 'squirty' cream was in stock and my vegan marshmallows were delivered at lunchtime so I'll be able to experiment later/tomorrow... I'll have to cut each marshmallow into quarters before I put it in the mug because they are so big though lol
Today's lunch was the last of the leftovers from my Christmas lunch and I still can't remember what the main bit was called lol Whatever it was, I had 2½ servings of it along with 2 roast potatoes, cooked in vegetable oil, sprouts and you can't see it in the photo but I had a serving of sage and onion stuffing with it too, washed down with a glass of water.
Here's today's lunch photo:
I heard from one of the medical secretaries at my GP surgery this morning about a letter that I wrote to my GP after reading that 'health secret' book and basically they are gonna print off my medical records from 1999 to now ready for me to collect on Tuesday, so I've ordered a pack of 10 writeable CDs, CD cases, CD pens, 3 folders for all my paperwork that I can now archive and a pack of 12 magnetic whiteboard pens.
I also had a quick phone call from my mum so I've added a box of fruit teas to the order too and it's all arriving tomorrow so that my mum has fruit as opposed to herbal teas to choose from on Friday lol
It means that the message I put up this morning about needing a reminder to put the order in tomorrow is now wrong and I'm sorry for my mistake. The delivery is coming tomorrow and I bet it'll turn up at the same time as my physio lol
I've got my Holland and Barratt order that arrived an hour ago and I know that they certainly used to do a big variety of fruit teas so when I/we have got through a few more fruit/herbal teas, I'll get an order in with them so that I've always got some in for short-notice visits from my blood family lol
My carer could turn up at any time, so I'm gonna publish this and put my laptop on the floor in preparation.
I'll see you with the photo after I've eaten.
TTFN.
...what to spend my two Christmas vouchers on - some fake plants and a weirdly shaped shelf to go in the corner so that I can start to make things my own instead of everything looking bare.
Can someone remind me to order it tomorrow please? It's already in my basket and if I order it now it's bound to turn up just in the middle of tomorrows physio appointment, so if I order it tomorrow it'll be here on Friday which is so much better for me instead of cramming everything in together.
I've also found a 3 seater sofa-bed that I'm gonna put into the spare room when I've finally got around to clearing it out for the third time in about 5 years. It'll be the last room I clear out because it's such a huge task and it won't be done all in one go - a box or two each week will be so much less daunting. There's a sofa and a chair that I wanna invest in for the living room at some point and they have room underneath them which will make it so much easier to vacuum and store less-frequently needed things in boxes so that there's still room to move other than when my nephews come over when the boxes can be dragged out to keep them entertained.
Slow and steady wins the race and I'm gonna focus on one room at a time. First task is the living room and hall then the bathroom then the kitchen, then the main bedroom and finally the spare room.
It'll be worth it in the end, I've just gotta take things slowly and focus on one thing at a time rather than as a whole house clearance in one go.
It's gonna be another day of techie troubles today, seemingly.
I've taken my morning pills with a glass of water, rebooted and had to temporarily turn my VPN off just so that I can get internet access... it's going straight back on as soon as all my tabs have loaded up though!
It's taken 45 minutes and 3 attempts, but I've hopefully just started the weekly virus scan. Gotta remember that it's the monthly scan tomorrow too.
My groceries are due this afternoon... will they arrive in the booked time slot or 2 hours early, in the middle of me eating my lunch again?
Time to publish this and attempt to put my day's to-do list together before my first carer of the day arrives.
I've just popped my last two pills of the day and the side effects are rapidly kicking in, so I'm gonna head straight off to beddy-byes.
I'll see you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.

I'm starting to read this late afternoon on Christmas Day and I'm not gonna rush through it, so let's see how long it takes.
If you've already read any of my other recent book reviews, you'll already know what I'm about to say and can skip this paragraph. If this is the first review you've read of mine though, I start them all off by saying that every book starts off with the full sleigh-load of stars and I'm always hopeful that they will all still be solidly in place by the time I close the back cover. My usual reason for taking a star off a book is due to copyright or trademark infringement but there has been one book that's rapidly had the fifth star replaced thanks to a magic little sentence right at the back, at the end of the novel and I'm more than happy to make it two books if that happens again.
Let's get going with the reading and reviewing shall we?
A lot has happened in that first chapter, but I've been left with questions hanging already!
Oooooh... do I sense a touch of romance maybe happening before the end of the book?
I'm liking this book more and more... the questions from the first chapter are still there, but they aren't at the forefront of my mind any more.
Only 10% of the way through after an hour, but this is an incredible book so far! Has the main character potentially got romance and a job in her life already?
No spoilers, don't worry, but the first 12% has been brilliant and I'm aiming for one more chapter before I sign off for the night.
Oooh... the main character is about to play detective on her past! I've got time for another chapter I reckon and my interest in what happens won't let me go to sleep until I find out lol.
Ooooh, I can see why she left her home and job so suddenly now and it was worse than I was thinking!
I've had an exhausting day today, so I'm gonna crawl up to bed now and keep reading and reviewing tomorrow... I can hardly wait to get my nose stuck into it again!
Oooh... a hint of romance ever so gradually starting to emerge there? Is the main character's heart finally starting to thaw?
Sounds like a heart-in-her-throat first day at work! lol Gotta love kids testing the boundaries - I remember it well lol
I loved chapter 11! If the main character and her new friends can do it, then why can't I?!
I've yet to find anything I don't like about this book, which is rarer that gold hen's teeth! At 30% it's still definitely 5 stars!
That chapter was pretty intense... it may sound stupid, but this book is making me feel like I'm actually there with all the characters!
Woops! I've been so lost in the book that it's now dark and I haven't updated this review for hours on end!
Up to 93% now and I'm gasping for a drink that I can undoubtedly cry into at the end of this incredible book.
Wow.
That was just...
Wow.
What a perfect ending to a perfect book and I'm not crying at all lol
