Nite nite orl

I've seriously overdone it today and I'm in a vast amount of pain, wobbly, emotional, exhausted, my memory is shot and my head feels like it's stuffed full of cotton wool and just generally regretting pushing myself so hard today.


I'm expecting a delivery via Royal Mail and potentially tomorrow (but it could be next Friday), someone is coming to pick up the toilet seat raisers too so I'll have a busy day then too, but I've learnt my lesson now and won't be leaving the sofa unless I really have to until I've recovered.


I've popped my last two pills and the gummy so I'm gonna head off to beddy-byes now.

Have I, at long long last, found...

...the setting that turns the central heating off constantly?


It's taken 3 factory resets in under 2 hours, but I'm reeeeally hoping I've found and adjusted the setting that made the central heating come on constantly between 6am and 10pm.


I've put the heating on time controlled and set the weekly timetable thing to be on twice a day, for an hour each time, instead of it being on permanently.


I'm not gonna fiddle with any more settings now, but if it works, I'll try the same for the DHW tomorrow to try and save a few more pennies.


Scary stuff, but not as scary as spending more in 1 week than I've budgeted for in an entire month!


I'm absolutely wiped out and in a great deal of pain, so I'm not gonna move off the sofa unless I need a wee before bedtime now.


Now up to...

...page 75 but my legs are weak and wobbly so I'm gonna give myself a while to recover before I scan the next lot in.  It's not as quick as I'd hoped but I'll keep going until it's all done and dusted.  I'll postpone the planning of the book until it's all scanned in, but hopefully it'll all be done and dusted by the time I head to bed on Sunday, then I can carry on with the bigger things to do next week.  There's no rush and having the big things planned out, definitely helps and motivates me to get started, just like my daily to-do lists... having it all broken down makes it seem less daunting somehow.

For only the 6th time this year my carer made my lunch for me 'cos I was getting stressed out with the central heating again.  She even did the washing up too!

I've increased my daily budget to £5 but I've only been under even that once in the last 10 days, so I'm really not a happy bunny with the central heating at all.

Mornin' all

I'm finally getting somewhere with the central heating 'cos while it's still not quite there yet, it's more like what I was expecting.  I did another factory reset at 5.51am and chose a couple of different settings which instantly turned the light green instead of orange which was a relief.


I've popped my morning pills including the gummy and set the virus scan off, so I'm all set for the day now.


Gonna put today's to-do list up before my carer arrives then get ready for starting the scanning session.

I've just popped my last two pills of the day and I'm gonna leave off the gummy tonight as I took two last night and I don't wanna risk damaging my health.


The side effects are rapidly kicking in so I'm gonna head straight up to bed in preparation for doing the scanning tomorrow.

Today's (28th February 2024) lunch photo

Lunch today was an instant vegetable Cup Soup made entirely by me while my carer made things so much harder for me today.


While I was filling the kettle, she literally threw the basket off the perching stool.  I put the kettle on to boil while she lifted the perching stool to where she wanted it and I lifted the basket back onto the box so that I could go and get the packet of soup out of the cupboard.  I came in here to put my laptop onto the floor and she moved her leg so that her knee was touching the back of my thigh as I squeezed through.  


When everything was ready in here I had to squeeze past her to make the soup with the freshly boiled water.  I needed a wee pretty urgently after using so much water so I had to squeeze past her other knee to get into and back out of the bathroom, by which time the soup was ready, so I had to squeeze past her original knee with a full mug of soup and back again to wash up when I'd finished drinking it.


I'd just about finished doing the washing up when her 18 minutes were up and to her credit, she lifted the perching stool to the other side of the kitchen again, but put it in the only free space in front of the kettle and towel basket, so with wet hands I had to rearrange everything for the second time so that I could dry my hands and make myself drinks this afternoon.


I had to literally squeeze past her 6 times because of where she had decided to sit and each time I asked her if I could squeeze past, she moved her leg less than 5cm each time.


She left the house leaving the front door wide open so I had to close that before I could sit down and recover too.


Basically, what should have taken 5 minutes with plenty of opportunities for her to do what she's paid for, she decided that she wanted to make it even harder for me than if she hadn't been here.


I'm now sat here in a great deal of pain, shaking like a leaf and with my mood through the floor, but she was here for the minimum time so that's OK right?

I've adjusted a couple of settings again and the orange light has gone off, so hopefully things will be better tomorrow.


The smart meter is showing £2.17 atm so I'm getting there slowly, but the living room is a bit warm so I've hopefully set it to turn off at 6am every morning now... hold on while I go and check... yeah, it's set to come on at 4.30am until 6am so hopefully I'll have hit the jackpot tomorrow with any luck - it's only taken 10 days lol

Well, I'm still alive, so having the two Snooze gummies by mistake obviously didn't kill me overnight lol

Today's main task is to check that the scanner still works and to put up a small table so that I can put my laptop on it to do the scanning tomorrow.  Having the second to-do list definitely helped to motivate me so I'm hoping that it'll be the same again today.


My electricity smart meter is orange and the radiators are nice and warm, so hopefully they will automatically turn off in the next 45-ish minutes - if they do and the DHW setting stays off then I might finally have found the right settings for the central heating to keep me warm but still be affordable.


Time to put today's to-do list up now I reckon.

Have I...

...found the reason for why the electricity has been eaten up for the last few hours even though the heating and installation were both turned off?


I've just turned the 'DHW' setting to 'off' and the smart meter light immediately went back to green for the first time since 3.30pm!


I'm gonna leave the heating and installation settings off until tomorrow then attempt to turn one thing at a time on.


I need to keep away from the DHW and absence settings now though, so I'm gradually discovering where the money goes to and how to eventually turn it off.


My electricity bill could be up to £500 this month but hopefully I'll be able to get things sorted soon and take my electricity bill down to about £120 a month with any luck.

Today's lunch was the last half of yesterday's vegetable pizza which I got out of the fridge, plated up, binned the rubbish, brought into the living room and started eating while my carer was in the bathroom.  She then sat on my perching stool using her phone while I finished eating, took the plate out and washed up.

That's a relief then!

The absence thing has finally finished and I've set it to be time controlled now, so the heating will be off until 6.30pm tonight hopefully, then only on for an hour then that's it until tomorrow morning at about 4am.


It's gonna be another expensive day today 'cos it was set to 'manual' instead of 'time-controlled' but hopefully things will be cheaper starting from tomorrow.


I've got the other half of yesterday's pizza to polish off for lunch today, then I will hopefully be able to afford to boil the kettle to have hot drinks and instant soup each day after that.

Mornin' mornin'

Well, the central heating was already on when I woke up at 4.17am... will it turn off at 7am (or before)?


I've popped my morning pills with my morning glass of water and started the daily virus scan so now I've gotta put in my next grocery order then I'm all set until my carer arrives.  Will she do her job this morning or stay 2 metres away from me, constantly using her phone instead?


I can't remember what the second thing I had to do today was, other than bring in and put away my groceries, so I'll go and have a peek at yesterday's blog post about it now then put up today's to-do list.

Central heating reminder

I've turned the "installation off" and it's turned the smart meter light green for the first time today so I'm gonna leave it off for the rest of today and turn it back on just before I head to bed in an attempt to save a bit more money.


I'm hoping that the absence thing won't be active tomorrow so I won't need to do it again, but can someone remind me to turn the "installation off" again if it does turn on after 8am tomorrow please?  I'm seriously hoping it won't 'cos today is the last day of my "absence" but then I thought I'd save money rather than spending more when I set it and I can't remember what time I set it to turn off lol


It's all a (very expensive) learning curve and I know not to touch the "absence" setting ever again lol

Oh dear

My smart meter is now on and I've already used up £2.42 of electricity since midnight so it's still higher than I was expecting by about £1 but hopefully today is the last day of nasty shocks 'cos today is the day I said I was coming back from my absence so with any luck tomorrow morning will be around £1.30 when it comes on at 6am.


I've turned the heat off again, but the temperature is 20.5℃ so that's no problem at all.


Mornin' all

Well, after the nasty shock yesterday morning and the orange light on my smart meter being on until 11am, it was only on until 5.30am today so that's an awful lot better!  I'm hoping that it'll be around £1.30 instead of over £3 today!


I've taken my morning pills with my morning glass of water and the daily virus scan was still reassuringly clear, but my old phone ran out of juice overnight, despite getting fully charged before I went to bed last night, so that's charging up again now.


One of my blog posts yesterday said that I need to remember to do something this morning, but I haven't got a clue what that is, so I'm glad I put the reminder up on here!


Time to go and remind myself of whatever I've forgotten then put today's to-do list together while I wait for my first carer of the week.

Nite nite orl

I've taken my last two pills and night-time gummy a touch earlier than normal 'cos I've had a stressful day and gone seriously over budget on the electric today, thanks to that 'absence' thing on the central heating - an incredibly expensive mistake that I'm seriously hoping I'll never repeat again 'cos today's electricity reading is at £6.28 which is almost 2 days usual electricity used up in 19 hours so I'm really not looking forward to my next electricity bill!


My aim for next week is to try and get my medical records scanned in and put away so that I can read through them and start planning the book out ready for NaNo and potentially JanNo... I've got it all ready, I've just gotta spend a couple of days monitoring my electricity usage to try and get it all scanned in, then that'll be another bit of space available.


My screen has darkened so it's not an early night after all.
