Today's (4th May 2026) lunch photo

Well, today's lunch finished clearing out both freezers and was my entire day's 5 portions of vegetables in one meal!  I had approx 200g of sweet potato chunks, approx 100g of butternut squash chunks and the last 100g of frozen mixed veg all washed down with a 330ml can of a Sparkling Mango pop.  I'm totally stuffed now from 400g of vegetables in one meal! lol

It's salad's starting tomorrow and I've got plenty of fruit to get through if I get hungry.  I've also got a very basic food processor and blender due tomorrow along with some freezer-safe containers to attempt to make my own sorbets with for the first time in my life!

I've added 270g of small avocados to my next OddBox order too, so I'll be able to try those next week too.  It's basically gonna be a couple of mismatched weeks as I transition from cool weather meals to warm weather meals and I've gotta be patient with my belly as it adjusts, but it's a relief to finally be getting seasonal fruits and veggies into me at last instead of just a mug of soup or pre-packed picnic protein for quick meals while my carers slept and/or used their phones.

Here's today's lunch photo:

Today (22nd April 2026) I'm grateful for...

...finally starting to sort out the cupboard in the kitchen.  I've emptied the top shelf and advertised it all on Freegle so I've done as much as I can until it's all been collected now, then I'll sort out the bottom of the cupboard, put the last of the things I don't want on Freegle and put the organisation stuff in there to completely tidy off all the counters, stool and floor.  It's been a mammoth sized job but the end is finally in sight now and I've just gotta wait for other people to say they want my advertised things and pick them up so that I can advertise the last of it all.

I'm also grateful that I've done the stock take and updated the menu's accordingly.  As long as I stick to the menu's, the first/second week of May will start my salad season and I'm starting off by having choccie Weetabix for breakfasts next week.  I'm taking things slowly after only having instant soup for the best part of 2 years and I'm proud of myself for coping so well with absolutely zero support... I'm coping better without my carers than I ever did with them!

Today has been a good day for me.

I've now, officially...

...been without a carer for 6 months and 1 hour and I'm doing better without them than I ever did with them!

Thank you so much, Gaia!!

I've just changed the bedding.

It took over an hour just to change the duvet cover this time.

I had got to the end of my tether with it and went for a wee, decided to ask Gaia for Her help and it was all done and dusted in 12 minutes.  I can only put it down to Gaia because I'd tried to do it exactly the same way after about 20 minutes pre-wee and failed dismally.

Thank you so much Gaia... I really appreciate Your support this afternoon and I'll definitely ask for help sooner next time lol

I've rewarded myself with a J2O after taking the recycling outside and I'm not gonna move off the sofa for a long while now 'cos I need to recover!

Mornin' all

I've woken up with a Visible score of 3 out of 5 and a blood pressure of 106 so that's not too bad.  I've popped my 9 morning pills with my breakfast of a 500ml glass of water and started the weekly virus scan off.  I'm quite cold so I'm gonna go and make myself a mug of hot honey water then go and get washed and dressed when the virus scan has finished and I've started off the backups.

It's a clear day for me today, other than the virus scan and backups so I'm just gonna relax and prepare my belly for my first almost-properly sized lunch for 4 years... I'm not gonna rush it, but I'm almost there now, just need to add veggies when my stomach has got used to the new amount of food that I'll be putting into it and I'll be happy with what I eat then instead of just a mug of instant soup to survive on every day like it was if my morning and lunchtime carers were both late and/or they forgot to come.

Time to get today's to-do list together then make my drink now I reckon.

Looks like...

...I'm not getting carers in any more, which is a relief and means that I don't have to put my entire days on hold and only plan things for after 3pm.  Just need to remember to take the calls off my to-do list tomorrow lol

I'll still take photos of each meal, but I'll try and start introducing more solids into my lunches now after almost 3 years.

Goooood morning all!

I'm trying to be positive today so negative thoughts aren't allowed.

I've taken my Visible reading, blood pressure, pills, run the daily virus scan and had my breakfast so I'm all set for the day as soon as my FitBit has finished charging up!

I wanna try and remember to ask my lunchtime carer to temporarily change the living room lightbulb just to check that it doesn't flicker, then I'll stock up on them with my groceries next week if it doesn't and put the million others I've bought onto Freegle.

Gotta remember to do the laundry today too.

Time to get today's to-do list together now me-thinks.

Mornin' all

It's gonna be a bad day today.

It started with me not being able to get out of bed even though I was desperate for a wee.

Then my phone started playing up so it was hard to take the morning reading from my Visible.

Then I came downstairs with my sock rubbing on my little toe.

Then my phone refused to zoom in on the blood pressure reading.

Then I almost lost the lid of the squash bottle.

Then there was barely enough squash left to cover the bottom of the squash bottle so it's pretty much entirely water.

Then I seriously struggled to swallow 2 of my morning pills.

I'm not having a good morning lol

I've gotta remember to bring my recycling box in when it's been emptied as well as weighing myself when I've had my breakfast so that I know if I can do my exercises this week, then my SIL is coming to sort out my back yard for me and I bet my carer will turn up while my SIL is here so she'll be paid for sitting and relaxing, potentially with a drink (if she wants one) and it'll be a good start to the week for her.

The virus scan was clear, so it's breakfast time now I reckon.

Thursday, 10 July 2025

Starting tomorrow...

...both meals will be liquids.

Why?

Because it'll be a hot choccie for breakfast and a protein shake for lunch which'll be weird, but needs must 🤷  It means that my carers can sit down as soon as they've signed in while I'm still closing the front door and won't have to wait for them to finish watching their video before I can get to the fridge.

Monday, 16 June 2025

I've had to...

...cancel today's medical appointment because the water bods are digging up the street and there's a hole outside my front door now!  lol

I've cancelled the lunchtime carers for the same reason too and might have to cancel tomorrow's groceries if they're still there this afternoon!

Loki's doing maybe?  lol

Saturday, 14 June 2025

Today (14th June 2025) I'm grateful for...

...finding the chocolate I like the best on eBay and being able to buy it so easily.

I'm also grateful for this morning's hot bath and my carer not blocking the fridge for lunch.

I'm grateful that I've got another 2 soya yoghurts in the fridge and plenty of Pringles tubes so that I can make sure I eat next week without having to persuade my carer to move out of the way so soon after she's got comfortable and started relaxing.

I'm grateful that I had my first me-friendly creamy drinking choccie and that I managed to drink it before taking my cut-off time of 5.30pm so that I don't wake up at 1am desperate for a wee and being unable to get back to sleep.

On top of all that, I'm grateful that all the updates on the phone appeared before bedtime so that I didn't have to leave them running all night.

I've got a lot to be grateful for today.

Wednesday, 4 June 2025

Today (4th June 2025) I'm grateful for...

...finishing off the spreadsheet of book reviewers and getting started on the next book on my TBR pile.  I've read 7 chapters and my heart feels warm and cozy already.

I'm also grateful that the delivery that was supposed to be here tomorrow actually turned up this afternoon, so I've got 3 good reading sessions ahead of me tomorrow without any interruptions.

As if that wasn't enough to be grateful for, the weekly virus scan finished in record time and was still clear after I'd had my first breakfast since Saturday and the backups were done and dusted soon after my morning carer left too.

Today has been a good day.

Monday, 2 June 2025

According to...

...my photos of each meal, two years ago my lunches were tinned baked beans or tinned spaghetti.

Two years later and my carers have trained me to have a pot of yoghurt for my lunch between May and September or a mug of instant soup between October and April.

Saturday, 31 May 2025

Aaaand we're back to...

...telling me to update something without even asking about me and how I'm coping.

I've done the update but the distance between us is even further now... this person hasn't changed despite me telling them bluntly how much I was hurting and grieving and that I needed their support for a very rare change - they just spent the entire email talking about themselves and what they've been through and asking me to make another update without giving me any information about where to find where they wanted the update to happen, any of the log-in details or even a please just a "I've been having a hard time recently and I've sent you loads of updates, but they haven't shown up so I hope you can put this one up for me" then attached the content  😡

Saturday, 17 May 2025

Looks like...

...my lunches next week will be a single pot of yoghurt a day 'cos apparently 3 yoghurts and 800g of grapes in 2 days (yep, totally serious) is too much according to today's carer so it'll be Weetabix for breakfast and a single pot of yoghurt for lunch, so I'll be living on less than 500 calories a day which will mean I loose weight I can't afford to lose, but as long as my carers are happy, that's all that matters, right?

Thursday, 8 May 2025

Up to...

...page 184 now and gonna leave it until after my carer has been and gone.  I asked to be the first on the list until the the electrician has replaced whatever needs to be replaced.  The carers have occasionally been here at 6.30pm even though their shift doesn't officially start until 7am so I'm gonna have a breather and keep my ears peeled for the doorbell now.

Gotta remember to ask the carer to change the hallway lightbulb while I'm getting washed.

In the manuscript I'm up to the bit where I've just been almost sectioned and my build-up drinks have been changed but I'm getting better and better now, seemingly!

Mornin' all

Well, I've started off this new week well by having my blood pressure in the normal for me range (but still low), popped my morning pills, sprayed the spray, had my breakfast, weighed myself, done the washing up, set off the virus scan (which has just finished and was clear) and put my watch on to charge up so I'm just waiting for my first carer of the week to arrive now.

My weight means that the creamy hot choccies are a go and I can do my laps again, but only once a day this week.

Time to get my first to-do list of the week up now I reckon.

Mornin' all

Gooooood morning everybody!

I've woken up in a decent mood, didn't wet myself, my blood pressure was my normal, my pills went down well and I've remembered it's the weekly virus scan, so I'm really hoping I'll have a good day today!

I'll have my breakfast when my carer has left so that I'm not mid-mouthful when she arrives, which could potentially be 55 minutes from now.

Time to get the first to-do list of today together now methinks.

As of next week...

...I'm buying my Summer lunches and stocking up on Summer breakfasts ready for when I've finished the bread.

A couple of my carers have said that it's hot outside so now is as good a time as any even though I'm still cold I guess.

Lunches will take less than a minute to make 'cos literally all it will involve is taking something out of the fridge, so the carers will have even less to do than currently, which they will be happy about 'cos it'll mean that they can spend the full 30 minutes sitting down, sleeping or catching up on their admin.

Mornin' all

I've woken up feeling pretty low and unmotivated this morning, so it's gonna be a struggle to even open up the memoir let alone edit it today!

My weight is 350g lower than last Monday, so that's good going and means that I've gotta motivate myself to do one set of laps each day this week instead of two.

I think I've pretty much decided to put the unopened sleeve of choccie Weetabix and the 2.5 litres of soya milk onto Olio 'cos there's bread on tomorrow's grocery order so I'll be able to go back to having toast again starting on Wednesday and I'll just have creamy hot chocolates for breakfast tomorrow.

My blood pressure reading has been taken, I've popped my first 9 pills of the week, had my breakfast, run the daily virus scan and made myself my first creamy hot chocolate of the day, so I'm just waiting for my carer now.

Gotta remember to bring the rubbish and recycling containers in when they've been emptied too.

Time to get the first to-do list of the new week up now I reckon.
