I'm absolutely chuffin' cream crackered so I've taken my last two pills of the day and it's bedtime for me now.


It's the weekly virus scan and backups tomorrow and I'm determined not to comfort eat anything - drinking chocolates don't count though  😉

Today (5th May 2026) I'm grateful for...

...just about having room for the new food processor lol  It's bigger and heavier than I was expecting, but I'm too exhausted to unpack it, so I'll try and remember to do that tomorrow.


I'm also grateful for the salad filling me up more than I was thinking... it's reassuring that I won't be raiding the fridge from hunger, just comfort eating that I've gotta break.

Today's (5th May 2026) lunch photo

I underestimated just how filling salads could be lol


My first warm-weather lunch was approx 80g of mixed salad leaves, a green pepper, a jumbo salad onion, 2 celery sticks, 2 pickled eggs and about 10g-ish of Vegan Mayo, washed down with a 330ml can of a Sparkling Mango pop.  I'm gonna be burping all afternoon now, but the vinegar that the eggs were pickled in and the onion has really cleared my tubes lol


I've well and truly had my 5 servings of veg in my lunch lol

Mornin' all

Well after the accidental hit of caffeine just before my usual bedtime, I managed to fall asleep faster than I usually do without the caffeine!!  I'm not gonna have any caffeine today or tomorrow so that my body can process yesterday's double hit.


My blood pressure was about normal and I've swallowed all 12 pills this morning, including my two happy pills, but I'm feeling sick again so I'm not gonna have a solid breakfast this morning and it'll just be drinks this morning.


I've got two deliveries due today but neither of them are out for delivery yet, so I'm gonna do my laps early this morning then wait for them to turn up while trying not to throw up.  I've got my groceries coming this morning too, which is another reason for an early start to my exercises.


The virus scan has just finished and found an advanced issue, so I'm gonna resolve that, go for my third emergency wee then my laps, sit-ups, crunches and twists before I put today's to-do list together.

I've just...

...taken my last two pills of the day, so I'll soon find out which is more powerful - the caffeine or my prescription lol


My brain is starting to switch off, but I'm wide awake so it's a pretty even battle so far.


I've accidentally...

...had caffeine at 5pm so won't be able to sleep tonight and it's made me feel sick so I really won't be able to lay down tonight anyway, so you'll have to put up with me all night.  I'm really hoping that the deliveries are early tomorrow so that I can flop into bed and catch up on my sleep without it triggering off my insomnia again.  I've got my groceries due in the morning too, so I'm gonna be a total mess by the time I crawl up to bed!

Book Review: "Further Confessions of a GP" by Benjamin Daniels

Kindle Unlimited     Audiobook     Paperback

⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

All of my more recent book reviews have started in the same way - by saying that each book I read and review starts off with the full surgery of 5 stars and I'm always hopeful that they will all still be stitched firmly into place by the time I close the back cover.  I'm not shy about removing stars but I always give my reason(s) for doing so within the review, they don't just vanish into thin air.


I've really enjoyed each of the other books I've read in the "Confessions of" series and I'm really hoping that this book is up there with the rest of the series too.


Let's get going shall we?


Well, no spoilers, but after the first chapter I'm relieved that I didn't start reading just before or just after eating lol


Oh deary me... there's been a very brief mention of a trademarked chocolate bar, so the first star is already wobbly so early on in the book.  It's clinging on for dear life right now, but it's currently like jelly.


I'm up to page 17 already and I'm loving this book so far.  As long as there are no more trademarked or copyrighted mentions, this is already shaping up to be a 5 star book!


There's been a mention of a famous children's film and I'm not sure how copyright and trademarks work on those, so the star is still clinging on, but only just now.


Up to page 41 now so I'm steaming through this book this morning and loving every word again!


Nooo!!  At page 53, the first (and hopefully only) star is coming off for the use of a distance learning university, potentially without permission.  I always hate it when I have to remove a star for copyright or trademark infringement in an otherwise very much 5 star book but I've gotta be fair to all the other books I've read and take the book down to four stars.  The good thing is though, that it's the only star I'll remove for this reason, so the author can quite easily use trademarks and copyrights to his heart's content now!  lol

I'm immensely glad that I didn't live in a time where they treated an STI with mercury!!


I'm stopping reading for the day at page 135 and hoping to start again tomorrow... it's another one of those "shoulda been 5 stars books" 'cos the words are incredibly absorbing, but the dratted use of those copyrighted and trademarked things meant that the star had to come off this morning otherwise it just wouldn't have been fair on other books that I've read and reviewed.


I'm regretting opening the packet of sweets at the start of the first chapter of the day lol


Poor Danni.  I can see it from both points of view, but that chapter really sounded like she'd hit rock bottom and having her kids back would encourage her to keep on climbing back out of the pit.  I can also see it from the doctors point of view though and he has to look after Danni but also think about what is best for her children's future too.


Page 175 now, so just under 100 pages left to read this afternoon and I'm enjoying every word again!


At page 229 now and it seems to be the end of the book, other than the humourous "notes" bit that was so much appreciated in the first book and the page count on my Kindle says that there are 43 pages left to read.  I think I'm remembering rightly that other books in this series have been adverts for other books in the "Confessions of..." series so we'll have to see if it's the same in this book too.


I was wrong, I'm sorry, there were just a couple of pages of humourous notes and now there are more tales from the doctor... I thought 40 pages of notes were maybe a bit long! lol 


Now *that's* the ending I was expecting to the book lol


Another very very good book and another "shoulda been 5 stars" one too.

Today's (4th May 2026) lunch photo

Well, today's lunch finished clearing out both freezers and was my entire day's 5 portions of vegetables in one meal!  I had approx 200g of sweet potato chunks, approx 100g of butternut squash chunks and the last 100g of frozen mixed veg all washed down with a 330ml can of a Sparkling Mango pop.  I'm totally stuffed now from 400g of vegetables in one meal! lol


It's salad's starting tomorrow and I've got plenty of fruit to get through if I get hungry.  I've also got a very basic food processor and blender due tomorrow along with some freezer-safe containers to attempt to make my own sorbets with for the first time in my life!


I've added 270g of small avocados to my next OddBox order too, so I'll be able to try those next week too.  It's basically gonna be a couple of mismatched weeks as I transition from cool weather meals to warm weather meals and I've gotta be patient with my belly as it adjusts, but it's a relief to finally be getting seasonal fruits and veggies into me at last instead of just a mug of soup or pre-packed picnic protein for quick meals while my carers slept and/or used their phones.

Today's first breakfast was my usual 500ml glass of water to pop my morning pills with, then my second breakfast was my solid breakfast of choccie Weetabix, soya milk and my usual 250ml bottle of Tropical juice.

Mornin' all

Can someone remind me to take a happy pill tomorrow morning 'cos it was a massive struggle to get out of bed this morning, so my levels are obviously low again.


So far this morning I've taken my blood pressure (which was at the high end of my own personal range, but still low in the medical range), popped my 9 morning pills and had my breakfast.  Gonna go and weigh myself now so that I know how many times a day/week I'll be exercising... hold on please!  OK, so I'm right at the cut off weight between doing my laps and exercises once or twice a day, so I'm gonna do them once a day, every day this week.


Gonna get today's to-do list together while I'm waiting for the first virus scan of the week to finish, then my breakfast photo and see how I feel/if it's safe to start lapping and exercising this morning or if I should wait until after lunch.

Ooh!

Just a very quick message before I shut down... my OddBox has already been delivered!  It'll give me something to do while my mind is winding down by putting all the goodies away!


I can't wait to see what's in there and start using it tomorrow!

It's been a long ole day today, but I managed to get half way through a medical biography without throwing up (although there were a couple of potential chapters) and I reckon I can prolly get through the last of the freezer for my lunch tomorrow so that I've got plenty of room for the sorbets I'll hopefully be able to start making on Wednesday.


I've taken my last two pills of the week and I'm gonna shut down now and try and wind down before I go to bed so that I can hopefully get a few hours sleep before I wake up desperate for a wee at 3am again.  If it happens again, I'll just stay up instead of crawling back into bed I reckon.
