It's been a loooong week this week and the medical appointment on Monday evening didn't help either, so I've popped my pills early again and I'm gonna head straight on up to beddy-byes now.
I'll see you all in the morning.

If you've read any of my other recent book reviews, you'll already know that I start 'em all off in the same way - by saying that every book I read and review starts off with the full shelf of 5 stars and that I'm always hopeful that they will all still be firmly in place by the time I close the back cover. You'll also know that I'm not shy about removing stars as I feel is necessary but I always give my reasons for doing so, they don't just drop off for no reason at all.
Let's get going with the reading and reviewing shall we?
It's only 84 pages long so a short, hopefully supportive read that I should be able to get through in a couple of hours.
I'm about half way through the second chapter and it's like the author has reached into my soul and said "I understand. Take my hand and lets get you to a free-er life eh?"
Oooh! This part of chapter two should be good 'cos it's talking about being "good enough" instead of "perfect" - I think I need to read and take note of then act on every word in this bit!
It might sound weird and you might be shaking your head in disbelief, but I feel physically lighter after reading chapter three... like the authors words have had the key to the heavy iron chains that I've been dragging around for the last 4.5 decades!
Wow! Chapter four was powerful and I'm gonna aim to continue to be beautifully flawed instead of perfect.
I'm up to page 25 out of 84 so I'm thinking that now would be a good time to stop for my gorgeously impefect lunch of a mug of instant soup rather than the Gordon Black food that everyone seems to idealise. My lunch will be as simple and comforting as my life from now on.
There have been a few brand names/trademarks that I've let slide up to now, but it's only fair to the other books that this has happened in - I've gotta remove the first (and hopefully only) star.
I love the idea of a gratitude journal... I reckon I'm gonna start doing that on my blog when I've finished the book and got this review up... on bad days it'll just be the tiny things but I'm determined to find at least one thing to be grateful for every day.
Just finished this incredible book and it's another one of those "shoulda been 5 stars" book. I'm feeling physically lighter and more empowered now, so I'm gonna tell my inner critic that yes, my internet connection is down right now, but I've earnt a hot choccie while I'm rebooting... something that I could never have done this morning!
Only 5 hours late with my breakfast photo today! lol
It was just my standard 2 slices of wholemeal 'Toastie' toast and 'Buttery' spread with a 250ml bottle of apple & mango juice.
Since I took this photo I've also had a decaff mocha and I've currently got a vegan hot choccie on the go and I've polished off 100g (ie 9) of chocolate coated Brazil nuts and I'm about to crack open 100g of chocolate peanut clusters too... so much for not snacking today eh? lol
Here's today's breakfast photo:
Well, I've been up for about 2.5 hours and achieved a pretty decent amount already this morning, despite not wanting to get out of bed lol
So far this morning I've:
I'm absolutely wiped out so I've popped my last two pills of the day and I'm heading straight on up to beddy-byes now.
I'll see you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.
I've been wearing my editing hat all day today so this is the first opportunity I've had to resize the photo and get this post up!
I wanted to try and get through today without snacking and I managed it thanks to having my nose stuck in the manuscript all day, so I'm feeling pretty proud of myself right now!
My lunch was another 6 serving packet of bacon flavour rashers crisps and a glass of water... back to the soups tomorrow I reckon.
Here's today's lunch photo:
I've finally finished editing another manuscript so I've only got this year's two to get through now, but they will wait until next year as I prefer to leave at least a year between writing and the first set of edits.
Tomorrow I'm planning on having a long, hot, lavendar-scented bubble bath to reward myself for getting through this week and getting ready for Sunday, but for the rest of the day I'm gonna put my lunch photo up then take my last blood pressure reading of the day, do the admin then head to bed for a very early night I reckon.
I managed to have breakfast today and I'm gonna try not to snack but I will allow myself as many hot choccies as I want... I've just had a foamy one with Barista coconut milk and it was pure luxury.
Breakfast was just my usual cold weather meal of 2 slices of wholemeal 'Toastie' toast with 'Buttery' spread and a 250ml bottle of freshly decanted apple & mango juice.
Here's today's breakfast photo:
I've had a busy day today so I've popped my last two pills of the day and I'm heading on up to beddy-byes.
I'll see you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.
...right now I'm right rollocking proud of myself and if you don't like it then you can stick it right up your jumper!
I've just made a big repair to the waistband on my trousers for the first time in my life. They've got an elasticated waistband on them too which I've never been shown how to mend in my life!
It's far from good quality but I'm proud of myself for being so independent!
I've treated myself to a mocktail in celebration and if it wasn't so close to pill-taking time, I'd even crack open the chocolate too!
I can do this and I can achieve anything I want to now!
I've had all kinds of techie problems this morning and it's taken over 2 hours to get this first post of the day to load up! It started with my laptop just being stuck on a blank screen so I took my blood pressure and went to get washed and changed after 15 minutes of waiting. It still hadn't booted up when I came back in so I did some stuff on my phone, took my 10 morning pills and went to make myself a decaff coffee (no breakfast this morning) and it was still stuck so I turned it off and it went to sleep. I woke it up and tried again, waited 30 seconds and rebooted. Success! The first screen appeared and everything booted up very slowly and I started off the monthly scan as soon as it loaded up, then remembered that I desperately needed to do my laundry today so put my wools on to wash.
I've got someone coming from Freegle at 10.30am and I've still gotta do my laps as well as hopefully someone coming this afternoon for something else, but they only messaged me at 3.30am so I replied at 4.30am suggesting this afternoon and I'm still waiting for them to get back to me.
This first blog post is already waaaay too long, so I'm gonna publish it now and then get today's to-do list together.

My last two pills of the day have been popped and I'm poopey-dooped so I'm gonna head straight on up to beddy-byes.
Gotta remember that it's the monthly virus scan tomorrow and I've got someone coming over from Freegle too, so it's another busy day!
I've bought myself more snacks that'll be here in 2-3 working days which is either Friday or Monday but knowing my luck it'll turn up while I'm in the bath on Saturday lol
Time for me to head on up to beddy-byes.
I'll see you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.
...totally done in now, so I'm gonna get myself a glass of water (I'm too wobbly to be safe enough to make a hot drink) and relax for the rest of the afternoon now.
I've sorted out another box of videos in the spare room and advertised them on Freegle so that's something else to cross off the list now.
Today's lunch was back to the good old soup again, this time finishing off the Minestrone Cup Soup and I also munched my way through 8 'Toucan' chocolate biscuit bars too.
Here's today's lunch photo:
...charity donation picked up by a lovely bloke who had a very strong Welsh accent lol
Time for lunch now, then my blood pressure, then reading this afternoon then I can tidy up a bit more of the spare room as soon as it's safe enough for me to stay on my feet for long enough, however long it takes me to start to recover properly.
Today's breakfast was my usual 2 slices of wholemeal 'Toastie' toast with 'Buttery' spread and a glass of water this morning because I forgot to put the clean juice bottles in the fridge yesterday.
I've also got a caffeinated mocha on the go now - my first caffeinated drink of the month even though I'm medically allowed up to 3 a week! I haven't missed the caffeine at all and won't be getting another jar when this one is finished because it's just too bitter for me. I'll still do like I do with the milk and keep individual sachets in for visitors, but I won't be knowingly drinking it any more.
Here's today's breakfast photo:
I've woken up in a pretty positive mood, took my morning blood pressure which was back to my normal, popped 3 of the 4 pills without throwing my head back and the other 3 went down fine. Loki decided that I wasn't giving Him enough credit, so he threw my bladder pill onto the floor when I popped it out of the packet lol
The charity stuff is due for collection at 11.13am today so I've already put the two bags in front of the door ready to go which has cleared a bit more room on the floor and I've got an empty box so I can go back to clearing out the spare room again for the first time for weeks!
This blog post is getting a bit long, so I'm gonna publish it and put today's to-do list together now I reckon.

Well, today has been an exhausting day and I couldn't recover from yesterday as well as bringing in and putting away my groceries, so tomorrow I'm gonna kick back, veg out and relax for the entire day while my weekly virus scan and back-ups are chugging away.
I'll be back to the crisps/soup for lunches starting tomorrow 'cos otherwise I'll have scoffed my entire snack collection before the weekend and it'll get my stomach ready for when my carers eventually start coming back too.
For tonight though, it's bedtime, so I'll see you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.
Today's lunch was a total break from the norm 'cos it was 50g of salt and vinegar popped lotus seeds (which I'd never even heard of let alone tried when I bought them) and 100g of salted caramel cashews, purely because the packet of lotus seeds was so light that I didn't think it would even fill a corner.
I opened the packet and carefully sniffed.
Got a faceful of vinegar scent that pretty much made my eyes water.
I cautiously took one out and popped it in my mouth... they looked crunchy so I was expecting them to be the texture of toffee popcorn.
Wrong again!
My teeth went straight through with no resistance at all!
They tasted good when I'd got used to the texture and overwhelming taste of vinegar though, so I'll hopefully remember to get them again.
Here's today's lunch photo:
I'm over 4 hours late getting this post and photo up today! Woops!
My breakfast was just my usual two slices of wholemeal 'Toastie' toast with 'Buttery' spread and a 250ml bottle of apple & mango juice again today.
Here's today's breakfast photo:
Well, so far this morning I've taken my blood pressure and it was almost back to my usual normal again, so all the movement before I took it was the reason it was so high, rather than my Covid jab. I've also got washed and changed, taken my morning pills, run the daily virus scan (which was still clear), had my breakfast, I've got my first mug of decaff coffee on the go and I'm giving my FitBit some juice before I start doing my laps at 6.45am.
My groceries are due this afternoon and I've gotta see if there's a delivery slot available... I very much doubt that there will be though.
This blog post is getting a bit on the long side, so I'm gonna publish it and get today's to-do list put together for today.
Toodle-pip for now.
I'm back from my medical appointment now and everything was fine and don't need to go back for another year now, unless I need to see them for something different, just like everyone else.
My weight is fine, as is my blood pressure, and I think I've worked out why my readings have been so high... because I've been walking around immediately before I do the test, so tomorrow I'm gonna go for a wee as soon as I come downstairs then get the machine and sit down for a little while before I take the test just to see what happpens. My first reading, as soon as I got into the room was 140 but the second one was only 108 and all that had changed was me getting weighed (she's a lot happier with my weight now) and sitting quietly for a little while.
I'm not gonna worry about that until the morning though, 'cos I've taken my last two pills of the week and it's time for me to head on up to beddy-byes.
I'll see you all in the morning.
Nite nite orl.
