Nite nite orl

It's been a long and exhausting day today, even though my weekly bath usually cures it - maybe I just pushed myself too hard with the laps, sit-ups and crunches this week??

Tomorrow starts a new month and I'm gonna be editing my manuscript for the third time in the four months since I wrote the first word and I'm gonna reward myself with the rest of the Glitterberry J2O's as I go.  I've got 5 bottles and almost 70k words so every 15k-ish words I'll reward myself.

Tomorrow's breakfast will be the last two slices of bread for my toast and I've got a couple of bottles of juice in the fridge, so I'll try and remember to have one of those instead of cracking open the big bottle - new bread and new juice on Monday to keep my OCD in check I reckon.

I've popped my last two pills of the day and I'm gonna crawl on up to beddy-byes now.

Nite nite orl

Today's (31st January 2026) tea photo

For my last meal of the month, I'm having a 250ml mug of instant Minestrone Cup Soup.

Here's today's tea photo:

Assuming...

...everything is in stock on Tuesday and I have both onion rings/mushrooms and the fishless fingers or bakes or vegan bacon or whatever else is in the big freezer, I'll have 6 week's worth of meals to get through without needing to get any more frozen stuff!  I've even got some cakes and yoghurts on the order for pud too, but I think that will be too much on top of increasing what I eat at lunchtimes, so I might take them off.

Starting on Wednesday (because I'll prolly have leftovers on Monday and mushrooms on Tuesday) I'll have 2 solid things on my plate as well as the mayonnaise so I'll prolly be totally stuffed!  It'll hopefully only take 15 minutes from start to finish too, which is less time than my carers were here for, but I was only ever allowed soup with them so that they could use my internet connection and/or fall asleep for the entire 30 minute visit!

I've got sweets on there too, to keep me hydrated while I do my laps too and I'm still under budget as well!

Mornin' all

I had a tiny bit of energy when I woke up this morning, but it had disappeared by the time I got downstairs so it'll be another rough day again today.

I've remembered to pull the water heating switch on in the bathroom so bath time is at 4.50am this week.

My blood pressure was back down into my own personal range this morning and my 9 morning pills all went down OK.

I discovered that the bananas had gone soft so I've put them in with the food waste and my breakfast was just a couple of bags of apple and grapes and a glass of water.  I wanna try not to snack today, but I dunno if I'll manage it now.

The virus scan was reassuringly clear again, so that's good news.

Time to put my FitBits and Visible on to charge up then get today's to-do list together now I reckon and I'll put my breakfast photo up after my bath - assuming I remember of course.

Friday, 30 January 2026

Nite nite orl

I'm absolutely worn out so I've taken my pills and I'm heading to bed now.

I'll see you all in the morning when I've gotta remember to have my weekly bath.

Mornin' all

Well, I've had a busy/productive morning so far.  In the last 90 minutes I've taken my Visible reading with a daily score of 1 out of 5, taken my blood pressure, popped my morning pills, had my breakfast, got washed and changed and put the first load of laundry on. The daily virus scan found an advanced issue which is now resolved.

I'm hot and sweaty, but I dunno if that's from getting washed and changed or putting the laundry on or something else entirely.

Time to get today's to-do list together now I reckon.

Well, that was...

...a hungry, wasted day then!

The engineer called me at 1.14pm to say that he was searching for a parking space and that's the last I heard from him!

I've just phoned to find out what's going on and they've rebooked me for 10th April now.

I've gone all day without eating and barely drinking for no reason by the looks of things!

Today's (29th January 2026) lunch photo

My lunch is the same as my breakfast was:  a 500ml glass of water.

Here's today's lunch photo:

Aaaaaand... relax

I had my annual prescription review almost exactly a week ago to the hour and I'm now fully stocked with all my meds - 2 months each of my bladder and AP's and 22 weeks of FA, so that'll keep me going for a while and it's all done and dusted for another year now.

Today's (29th January 2026) breakfast photo

Almost 6 hours late getting this photo up, but my breakfast was just a 500ml glass of water and it'll be the same again for lunch and potentially tea too 'cos I'm getting an annual service done on my ASHP and central heating this afternoon, at some point between 12pm and 6pm, so I'm really hoping that it'll be closer to one of the first rather than one of the last!

Here's my breakfast photo:

Mornin' all

Well, today's the day of the annual service of my ASHP and central heating.  I've got a PM appointment so the engineer will be here any time between 12pm and 6pm so I can do my morning laps, sit-ups and crunches but potentially not my afternoon ones.  I'll be able to get washed and changed this morning too.

I've popped my 10 morning pills and the virus scan was clear, so I'm good to go for the rest of the morning now.  I'm at 3 out of 5 for my Visible reading again too.

Time to get today's to-do list together methinks.

I'm also grateful for my laps, sit-ups and crunches being pretty much stress-free with only a couple of falls each session today.

I'm grateful that I've eaten 4 bananas today and that I've been able to make it to the bathroom every time after my second caffeinated drink of the week.

I'm also grateful that I've managed to stay awake all day, despite my disturbed night after not taking my APs last night.  I'm definitely gonna take them tonight though!!  lol

I'm grateful that the central heating review is gonna be done at some point between 8am and 4.30pm tomorrow and I've decided that I'll do my laps, sit-ups and crunches as soon as I can tomorrow morning and I'll do the afternoon session as soon as the engineer has left if they haven't arrived before lunch.

For today's breakfast I just had a glass of water.  I couldn't put my laptop on the floor because of the weekly virus scan and backups and my legs aren't strong enough to keep me on my feet in the kitchen, so it was just a 500ml glass of water for breakfast today.

Mornin' all

I completely forgot to say goodnight to you all last night until I was in bed!  Woops!

I've taken my blood pressure, popped my morning pills and started the monthly virus scan so far this morning and my breakfast was a 500ml glass of water so that I could get the monthly virus scan underway.  Assuming that the backups are finished in time, my only solid meal today will be my lunch of 2 hash browns and vegan mayonnaise.

Time to get today's to-do list together first though, methinks.

Today's (27th January 2026) tea photo

I'm 3 hours late with getting this photo up, but never mind.

Today's tea was the penultimate sachet of instant Minestrone Cup Soup.

Here's today's tea photo:

Book Review: "Duckling" by Eve Ainsworth

Kindle     Paperback
⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

Each book I read and review starts off with the full body of 5 stars and I'm always hopeful that they will all still be firmly stuck in place by the time I close the back cover.  I'm never shy about removing stars if I feel it necessary, but I always give my reasons within the review - they don't just plop off.

Apparently this book is "A gripping, emotional, life-affirming story you'll want to recommend to a friend" and it's a 4.3 star story from 224 reviews, so it's got a lot to live up to!

Let's get going with the reading and reviewing shall we?

The first chapter was good... I'll never remember the four characters that I've already been introduced to though lol

Chapter 2 was good... I'm ever so slowly starting to get to know the main character, her new neighbours and I've kinda been introduced to her boss and dad too.  I'm thinking that there might be an opportunity for friendship and fun with her neighbours, maybe a bit of romantic interest and possibly grief with her dad too, but I hope I'm wrong about that last one.

Chapter 3 has got me slightly worried, but this review is already starting to get a bit long, so, like my other reviews, I'll only comment on the big things now.

There have been a few mentions of a famous international burger bar and now their logo, so in fairness to other books I've read, the first star is coming off on page 73 and I'm really hoping that's the only one.

I'm about a third of the way through the book already, so now, at chapter 7, seems like a good point to go and make my lunch.

The end of chapter 7 was better than I was dreading, but I'm starting to get worried/angry/frustrated at Cassie now!

I'm almost half way now and am I about to find out more about Lucy's dad??

Gonna read one more chapter and hopefully that'll take me to tea-time, then I can spend the rest of the afternoon and evening with my nose in this great book.

Oooh!  I wonder what Lucy's secret is?  Will I find out before bedtime tonight or will it tantalise me until tomorrow??

Back until lunchtime and I hope I find out what Lucy's secret is soon!

Chapter 12 and I still don't know Lucy's secret, but maybe we are closer to finding Cassie??

Up to page 229 and time for lunch methinks.  There's about 160 pages to go and I've got so many questions for the author to answer and I hope it's a happy ending too... and I'm thinking it'll be a tear-jerker judging by the subtitle too, what with it promising to be "A gripping, emotional, life-affirming story".

With about 120 pages to go, the stakes have suddenly ramped up even higher!  How on earth is the author going to tie the lose ends up without rushing through it all?!

Page 272 and things are finally falling into place... my heart is thumping and I'm really hope this won't be a sad ending to a great book.

It's been a busy couple of days since I last picked up this book so it'll be a challenge to see if my memory churns into action when I pick it up again.  I'm really hoping there isn't anything sob-worthy before lunch so that I don't feel too emotional to eat!

The spelling of Lucy's name in that text has got me on edge... will this be bad news?  Has something happened to Cassie?  There's still half an hour before lunch so I'm gonna read one more chapter then make it methinks.

Chapter 21 is making me think we're going international now, but we can't be with less than 70 pages to go, surely?!

Oh.

My.

Goddess.

I've just finished the book and the tears are streaming down my face in stonking huge great waves.

Definitely worth waiting for.

Today's (27th January 2026) lunch photo

Today's lunch was the same as most Tuesday lunches - 300g (today that was 4 but it's sometimes 3) of large, flat mushrooms with approx 10g Vegan Mayo and washed down with a 330ml can of Sparkling Mango pop.

Here's today's lunch photo:

Aaaaand... relax

That's all my things done this morning and I was going to finish reading and reviewing the book before lunch, potentially making it a late one, but I'm really hungry now, so my lunch will be bang on time/slightly early today.  I wanna read a couple of chapters before lunch, but I'll be spending all afternoon with my nose in the book and hopefully finish reading and reviewing it before I head to bed tonight.  There are only about 100 pages to go so keep your fingers crossed that it's not a late night tonight please!

I was...

...struck by an idea for a third medical memoir while I was in bed last night. Another pretty rare one but I don't think it's as rare as the two I've already written about and it's a childhood thing to start with so I'll have to seriously search my memory banks from over four decades ago.

I won't be writing it with dates like the first one, it'll be more like the second one which is currently in the editing stage and it'll likely be all over the place but you will hopefully get to know me as a child.

I think I've briefly mentioned it in my first two memoirs, so this seems like a good way to tie up any questions left by my readers.

I've got another two health issues (Endometriosis and an overactive bladder) that I mentioned briefly in the first memoir but they are a lot more common than the other three so I'm thinking I won't write about those two.

The initial title of my third (and potentially last) memoir will be "Squirt".
