If you've read any of my other recent book reviews, you'll already know that I start them all off by saying that every book I read and review starts off with the full trolley-load of stars and I'm always hopeful that they will all still be firmly stitched into place by the time I close the back cover.
I chose this book because I've got a rare neurological disability that apparently almost killed me, I've permanently lost 2 years of my life because of it and this is the best my health will ever get. I'm hoping that this book will give me an easily-digestible glimpse into the inner workings of my brain and maybe a hint into the inner workings of the particular bit of my brain that is affected.
Let's get reading and reviewing, shall we?
I'm 9 pages in and the first star is already coming off because the first 8 pages were pretty much entirely black on my Kindle and page 9 isn't much better - quite frankly I was expecting more from such a big publishing house!
I'm on page 13 and the text is too tiny to read so I've already got a head and eye ache after reading less than a full sentence so the second star is coming off and I'm gonna skip forward to an easier to read and less painful page - if there actually is one!
I've skipped forward to page 33 and stopped there 'cos the hypothalamus/thalamus is the part of my brain that's affected so I was hoping to learn so much from this section, but the darkness of the background and the tiny text is such a huge turn-off and my eyeballs are throbbing already so I'm gonna take the third star off and I'm feeling incredibly disappointed by this book and publisher already.
On page 53 it's got "brain food" which is another thing I was hoping to learn from this book, but that's unreadable because of the background colour and tiny text too, so the fourth and final star is coming up and I'm officially giving up unfortunately.
