⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5
I start all my book reviews off by saying that each book starts with the full library of 5 stars and I'm always hopeful that they will all still be firmly in place by the time I close the back cover. I'm not shy about removing stars, but I always give my reasons within the review, they don't just suddenly plop off.
Let's get going with the reading and reviewing shall we?
Oh dear, not a good start to the book because I had to trawl through about a million (OK, 8 realistically but it felt like a million) pages of the author's previous books... I get that she wants to get more sales, but to have them before the story has even started is a bit much!
The first two chapters were so much better than the start of the book, thankfully!
A well-known High Street bookshop has been used and while it was used fictitiously, it's still without permission so the wobbly star has plopped off.
Up to chapter 10 and time to stop for lunch methinks.
Back now and there have been a couple more brand name mentioned, potentially without permission, so the star is a definite gone unfortunately.
A good book with a great ending... no spoilers, don't worry... a good book that's worth every one of those 4 stars.
