⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5
If you've read any of my other recent book reviews, you'll already know that I start them all off in the same way and the first paragraph of this review is no different: Every book I read and review starts off with the full shelter of 5 stars and I'm always hopeful that they'll all still be firmly in place by the time I close the back cover. You'll already know that I'm not shy about removing stars but I always give my reasons for doing so within the review - they don't just vanish.
Let's get going with the reading and reviewing, shall we?
I'm currently 6% of the way through this book and there hasn't been a chapter break yet, so maybe there won't be in this book? 300-odd pages without a break will be interesting to cope with lol
Ooooh! I'm at 9% now and Mr O'Grady has only gone and got a religious thing spot on... I'm Pagan and he's mentioned Beltane in such an accessible way to the non-Pagan, which I've never read a non-Pagan author doing before!
I'm at 15% now and still no chapter breaks, so methinks this'll be a sectionless book, so I'll be able to stop whenever I want at bedtime tonight.
I'm at 16% and I'm at the first break in the book. Not sure whether to call it a chapter or section or something else entirely, but I'm at the second one of whatever it is now and I loved the first part.
The second chapter/section/part/whatever it is, was only a couple of pages so I'm now up to 17% and still reading.
There have been some mentions of brand name things, so in fairness to other books I've read and reviewed, I think it's time to break my heart and remove the first star at 19%.
Up to 22% and there seems to be a sub-section and therefore potentially a good place to stop for the day. I've got pretty much the whole day to myself tomorrow, so I should be able to get a good way through it, but I'm not gonna speed-read through it, I'm gonna take it slowly and devour each word.
It's 9.50am on a Sunday and I'm currently up to 31%. The first chapter/section thing was thankfully the only one so far (so I've jinxed it now, of course lol) and it's still very much a fantastic book.
I'm at 33% now and my cold is rearing its ugly head so I'm gonna make myself a hot drink and sip it slowly in the hopes that it'll last most of the day, just like yesterday's did.
At 37% it's time to stop for lunch... no spoilers but there has already been far too much heartbreak in this book!
I'm officially half way through the book and I was shaking my head at the geese 'cos I knew exactly what was coming lol
Now at 67% so I'm blistering through this great book!
Finishing reading for the day at 72% so I'll hopefully finish reading and reviewing at some point tomorrow.
I've read 2% so far this morning and it's still a wonderful book. There was lots more Pagany stuff in the chapter I've just read so he's doing well with that too... most authors ignore the Pagany bits that so many of the celebrations, in the festive season especially, come from.
At 80% now and it seems like a good place to stop and get ready for lunch, whenever my carer arrives.
What a perfect end to a great book - a well-loved and much-respected famous person who now feels human rather than just someone on a screen like many celebrities!
