Book Review: "The Chemistry Test" by Georgina Frankie

⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

My second attempt at a 300 page book of the morning!  I hope I get further in this book than the last one!

Each book I read and review starts off with the full lab of 5 stars and I'm always hopeful that they will all still be firmly in place by the time I close the back cover.  I'm not shy about removing stars but I always give my reasons for doing so within the review, they don't just disappear into thin air.

Let's get started with the reading and reviewing, shall we?

What a first chapter!  It pulled me in straight away!  This already feels like it could be a potential 5-starer after only one short chapter!

There have been 2 mentions of trademarked items, so I'll give it one more chance before I knock a star off in fairness to all the other books I've read in the past.

These chapters are gorgeously short, easy to read and I'm loving this book so far!

There was another mention of a Trademarked product so the first and hopefully only star has to come off.

Ooh!  A few people I know have Penny's illness so I'm hoping that by reading this book I'll have a bit more of a clue about what their struggles are like and maybe even a few hints about how best to support them!

I have one of Cam's two diagnoses so it'll be interesting to see how the author handles it.  Up to chapter 7 at 8& now so I'm already doing better than with this morning's first book lol

Ooh!  This could get interesting!  No spoilers, don't worry, but this could be the start of the main plot of the story with any luck and I know where I hope it's going too!

Another diagnosis that I've heard of but shamefully know little about!  This book could be a real education for me as well as being enjoyable so far!

I'm loving this book!

I'm up to chapter 9 and the author has got everything about wheelchairs spot on and I'm wondering if there could maybe be a touch of romance blossoming further into the book, but definitely friendship I hope!

No spoilers, but in chapter 10 you start to get a glimpse into Cam's grief and in a way that's comforting to know that the author has written it so well.

Chapter 15 got my lips moving upwards lol

Up to chapter 19 now and the end of chapter 18 got me wondering if I could do things the old, pre-loss me would do... if I could listen to the same music without bursting into tears or watching my late hubby's favourite sports or just trying to reconnect with who I was before he took his final breath... maybe that's the next stage of my healing?

Just finished chapter 23 and Cam's secret is out for Penny at last.

Up to chapter 27 and it'll break my heart when Tabby goes... but could the trip lead on to something else between Penny and Cam?

I'm proud of both Penny and Cam in chapter 28, but for different reasons.

What a way to start your birthday in chapter 31!

Chapter 35 has got my heart hammering with nerves for poor Penny... how will Cam react after I've had my lunch??

Up to chapter 45 now and it sounds like things aren't going so well with Elias.

What an end to a great book... another 'shoulda been 5 stars' one that the author handled pretty much spot on throughout.
