Book Review: "Diary of a Rural GP: Hilarious True Stories from a Country Practice" by Michael Sparrow

Kindle     Paperback

⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5 stars

I've been hit by the dreaded insomnia so I'm using the opportunity to catch up on my 'to be read' pile, starting with this one.  I've already read the first two books in the trilogy and they were both truly incredible, so I've got high hopes for this one too.

Each of my recent book reviews have started off in the same way, with me saying that each book I read and review starts off with the full surgery-load of 5 stars.  I'm always hopeful that each book will still have each star stuck firmly in place when I close the back cover, but I'm not shy about removing stars if I feel it necessary and I always give my reasons for each removal within the review.

Let's get the book opened shall we?

The introduction and first chapter really woke me up... it sounds like this will be the last book and it's been good so far.

The second chapter was good too... I'm not going to comment on every chapter or this review could go on forever, but this book is already up there with the best of 'em in my opinion!

Oh dear, there have been a few trademarks mentioned so the first star is coming off in chapter 3  :-(

Up to chapter 6 now and at 2.02am (not a typo, I really do mean it's the early hours of the morning) my throat feels like a desert in the heat of Summer so I'm gonna go and get myself a glass of water before I read another few chapters.

Up to chapter 12 now and the previous chapter has left me wondering what Dr Sparrow found... no spoilers, don't worry.

Chapter 17 is potentially the final chapter in the book and I've got no idea where the day has disappeared to!

What an end to a great book... a definite must-read to pass a sleepless night and day!
