Nite nite orl

After losing that hour of sleep last night and such a hectic day today, I'm totally done in, but it's already doing wonders for my mood that I don't have to close the curtains at 5pm and that I haven't had the lights on all day, other than that first hour or so that I first came downstairs and while I was with my carer.


It'll be weird not stumbling around in total blackness when I go up to bed tonight, but I can't wait!


I've popped my pills and I'm gonna head straight on up to beddy-byes.


I'll see you all in the morning when my mood will hopefully be considerably lighter than it has been for the last 6 months.

Mornin' all

Did you remember to put all your clocks forward an hour this morning?  My inherited clock was amazingly easy, but I was expecting that 'cos it's just a dial to turn.


My watch was stressful 'cos I had to disconnect Bluetooth, restart my phone and watch and link them back up again, but even that was nowhere near as bad as re-doing the time over and over again on the room humidity sensor!  That took a good 10 minutes to sort out and then my carer came to the door less than 5 minutes later!


Breakfast this morning is a creamy drinking chocolate because I almost fell backwards while I was getting washed, so I'm gonna spend as little time on my feet as possible today.  I'm definitely not doing my morning laps and I'll see how I feel this afternoon, but today is not the day for taking risks and having one day off won't do any harm.


I remembered to pop my morning pills while I was waiting for my laptop to boot up and the virus scan worked first time too, so that's good.


This blog post is already too long, so I'm gonna publish it and put today's to-do list up now I reckon.

The clocks are changing overnight which always screws me up so I've taken my pills early and having an early night so that I can still hopefully get my required 8 hours of shut-eye so that I'm not like a bear with a sore head tomorrow.

£123.96!!

I've just checked the solar panel reader thing and they have already produced £123.96 in well under 2 weeks, so I'm likely to have hit the £125 target I'd set myself by tomorrow morning and maybe £135 by the end of March, which is waaaaay above what I was thinking!!


I'm all for renewable energy, but to be producing about £300 a month (at a guess, April will be the first full month) for the National Grid is incredible!


If, next week...

...I manage to get through the entire 7 days without spending on anything that isn't necessary (so the grocery editing, the museli/granola and the dehumidifiers would have counted as necessary, but everything else wouldn't this afternoon), I'm gonna reward myself with a Caffe Nero mocha and slice of cake or vegan sausage roll or whatever next Sunday, before my food and drink cut-off time.  I've come a long way in the last year but I've still got a way to go and I need something to look forward to and inspire me to think twice before getting my card out of my purse.


I've been...

...on a mini spending spree this afternoon and bought myself some more chocolate, my first 5 boxes of granola of the year (because they were on offer), 18 hanging dehumidifiers 'cos the one that I've been using has made a huuuuuge difference to my clothes no longer being damp (from the heat) when I wear them (which has stopped my carers whining) and a box for my crystals so that I could get free delivery.


I'm proud of myself for going overboard and spending the hundreds that I would have done this time last year, but I've still got a way to go yet.


It's also been warm enough for me to have the back door open for 15 minutes while I was doing my afternoon laps but my nose is running, my eyes are itchy, and I can't stop sneezing and sniffing now, so my hayfever season has started too, now that there is pollen throughout the house because I just didn't stop and think.


I've just taken the bread and fruit off Tuesday's grocery order 'cos I've got plenty here and replaced it with soya milk ready for when my granola (or was it museli?) arrives.


My FitBit is full of juice ready for tomorrow so I'm gonna publish this then put it back around my ankle before I forget and start walking somewhere without my steps being counted.

Today's (30th March 2024) breakfast photo

Today's breakfast was a bit of a mish-mash of stuff 'cos it was my usual two slices of toast with dairy-free spread, a 250ml bottle of orange juice as well as a packet of apple slices and a packet of apple and grapes.  I'm pretty sure that's the last of the substituted fruit now though.  I also had a home-made me-friendly creamy decaff mocha to start the day off with and I've also pretty much finished my mug of a herbal tea to help me to recover from doing my laps while I was waiting for the bread to defrost.

Today's carer was...

...the worst of the bad ones.


Why?


Because I was in the bathroom when the doorbell rang so I hurried to the door and apologised for taking so long to get to the door.  She pushed past me and said "that's good" then signed in.  So far so good.  The second her phone tinged the successful sign-in ting, she took her personal phone out of her pocket and started sending texts to someone.  Her phone beeped 5 times in the 2 minutes that it took me to get undressed, another 7 times while I was getting washed and dried, twice while I was putting my deodorant on. She put her phone on the side to put the toothpaste on the brush, then it beeped another 4 times while I was brushing my teeth.


Then, oh boy, it came to getting dressed and she snatched my bra off me, stretched it to the entire width of the stairs and put it over my head, making my glasses fall off.  Her phone tinged another 3 times and she went back to answering that while I finished getting dressed.


She then filled the kettle right up to the top with the hot water tap and started it boiling, then asked me what I was having for breakfast, signed out and buggered off thankfully.


In the 4 minutes since she's been gone, I've already fallen out of my bra 3 times so that's another piece of underwear stretched beyond use now, but apparently I can afford to go through 7 bras, 7 knickers and 14 socks stretched so that they don't fit any more every week 🤷


Time to finish this angry rant, update my to-do list, take the bread out of the freezer for my breakfast then do my first set of laps of the day now I reckon.

Mornin' all

I was awake before 4am again then dozed until my watch woke me up at 5.30am then it took me 19 minutes to put my glasses on, make the bed and come downstairs!


I've popped my morning pills with my morning glass of water and after a slow start, my daily virus scan is almost finished now, which is a relief.


The clocks go forward in the early hours of tomorrow morning, so I definitely need an early night tonight to make up for the hour that I'll be without tomorrow... I just hope that I'm up before my carer arrives tomorrow!


I'm freezing cold but I'm not gonna make myself a hot drink or curl up underneath the sleeved blanket otherwise the carer is bound to turn up mid-mouthful or she'll have to wait for me to untangle myself which will put her in a bad mood for her other clients, so I'll just have to stay cold until she turns up.


I've got 2 deliveries due today too, so it's all go!


Time to put today's to-do list up before my carer arrives methinks.

Today's (29th March 2024) breakfast photo

Today's breakfast was just my usual 2 slices of wholemeal toast with me-friendly (dairy-free) spread, 2 packs of apple and grapes (16 slices of apple and 5 grapes in total) and my normal 250ml bottle of orange juice.  I've also had a 350ml mug of decaff instant coffee and 5 Bourbon Creams for a pre-breakfast snack while I was waiting for my first carer of the day and I've just slurped my way through a 350ml mug of me-friendly drinking chocolate too... gonna make myself a mocha with me-friendly squirty cream after I've put this online too.

I only stumbled backwards 8 times and sideways 5 times and didn't fall at all, so that was a relief and I'm not gonna push myself too hard today otherwise it'll rapidly come back to bite me on my bum lol

Thaaat's better!


Managed 9 hours and 40 minutes of sleep overnight and I'm feeling a lot more like myself now.


I've popped my morning pills with my morning glass of water and I'm gonna start my daily virus scan as soon as it kicks into life.


I've got a delivery due today too... I'm predicting it'll turn up while my carers are here or I'm drinking my lunch lol


Time to publish this and hopefully put today's to-do list up before my morning carer arrives... it'll be interesting to see if she demands a hot drink or if she hasn't read the notes from yesterday's carers!

Nite nite orl

I've had a very long and very stressful 48 hours with very little sleep and what I did manage was very disturbed, so I've taken my pills and am heading straight to bed.


Basically because there aren't any errors anywhere any more, there's nothing else that Broad Oak can do to help me so the manufacturer is coming out at some point to inspect and hopefully fix it.  It's the Easter long weekend now so it'll be Tuesday at the very earliest before I hear anything so I'll have been without any kind of heat and the small amount of hot water in the tank getting used up by my carers doing the washing up and wiping the sides while the hot tap is running, so I'll have to have another cold bath on Saturday, but as long as there's enough hot water for them, that's OK right?


I'm gonna stop ranting now and head to bed.


I'll see you all in the morning at some point and hopefully be able to have my mug of soup for the first time in 3 days tomorrow lunchtime 'cos I've had 2 meals in 3 days so far this week and none of them have been made by my carer, but that's pretty standard stuff now.  This morning's carer started her day with a mug of decaff tea, milk and sugar and this afternoon's carer talked to someone in her native language for the entire 18 minutes she was here, so I'll be paying for an hour of care today and haven't even had 1 second of support from either of them today, which is pretty standard too, but they will all be expecting me to make them hot drinks instead of helping me to wash, dress and make my lunch now <shrug>

...the central heating installers are all out of ideas so they are going to get the manufacturer to come and inspect it as there aren't any errors now!!


Why can nothing ever go right first time eh?  Why does there always have to be problems and issues?

Today's (28th March 2024) very late breakfast photo

My only meal today was a very late breakfast at 10.25am and I was lucky to have that, purely because I texted the installer and he said he was at another job this morning, so I'm now waiting around for him to finish on that job to come over here and that could be any time from now until bedtime tonight.  The only thing in my belly today is 2 slices of wholemeal toast with dairy-free spread and smooth peanut butter with 2 packs of apple & grapes and a 250ml bottle of orange juice today.

Mornin' all

I didn't take my AP's last night so was still awake at 11.45pm and woke up at 3am so the Snooze gummies aren't that helpful in reality lol


I've done my morning laps and popped my morning pills so I'm just waiting for my carer to turn up so that I can make her a drink while I wait for the engineer to call at 7am.  Apparently all the settings are fine, so I might have to get the electrician back.  I had a thought while I was awake in bed though... I wonder if it's as simple as a switch needing to be pushed up or down in the box that controls the central heating?  I know that at least one of the recent bods to do with the central heating and solar panels has been in there so maybe that's all it is?  I'll have to try and remember to ask when they phone and come out!


I've set the monthly virus scan running this morning and rememberd not to open my email programmes so hopefully today will be a good day for me.

That's how much renewable energy my solar panels have produced for the National Grid, you and me since they were turned on a little over a week ago.  I'll very likely have hit triple figures by the time I head to bed tomorrow and hopefully getting on for £125 by the time I hit the 2 week mark, which ain't bad going at all.  My lowest days are around £9 and my best day so far has been about £12 but it averages out at around the low £11's as long as there is enough light for them to be able to convert, so rainy days still produce juice, just not as much as clear days.


Can't wait for Summer if it's already producing so much on gloomier, shorter days!


Incredibly proud of...

...one of the pupils at my old secondary school.  She's playing in the women's under 20's six nations and it's literally giving me shivers of pride and I'm welling up too.  It's not every day that you can say that and I hope that Steve will be cheering her on in Summerland too.

Today's (27th March 2024) lunch photo

My only meal today was a mug of instant minestrone Cup Soup, made entirely by me while my carer was parking her car after signing in.  She spent a grand total of 7 minutes in the house and not a single second was spent caring for me, but she'll be paid for the full half an hour she's supposed to be here for.  The signing in, leaving then coming back for the last few minutes only happens every 3-4 months though, so I'm grateful for that.

Mornin' all

I think my body is really starting to say "no more!" now 'cos I was asleep for almost 9.5 hours and I'm still cream-crackered this morning!


I've popped my morning pills with my early morning glass of water and I'm just waiting for my virus programme to load up now so that I can kick it off.


My central heating still hasn't come on so I'm gonna email Broad Oak when my carer has left and I've had my breakfast.


Gonna make a start on putting today's to-do list together now, while I wait for my morning carer.

Nite nite orl

I'm bitterly cold despite having new central heating installed, so I'm gonna give it one more chance to work overnight, then I'll drop Broad Oak an email tomorrow to see what they say.


Gotta remember that it's Wednesday tomorrow, so can't open up my email programmes until the weekly virus scan and backups have finished and I've hopefully got rid of the viruses from the archives and One Drive so that it's completely clear next week.


I've popped my last two pills and gummy of the day so I'm gonna crawl up to beddy-byes now.

Sixth and final update to today's to-do list

  • Run daily virus scan - I had to re-start it 'cos it had been in the same place for the best part of 2 hours - it started itself almost immediately after the manual second attempt finished and that was clear too, thankfully

  • Have breakfast - today's toast-time is 8.35am

Well that was...

...a productive hour!


I heard from my electricity company that I had to provide all kinds of paperwork that I was positive I already had, so went through each of the folders that I've got paperwork from companies and medical/support stuff and I discovered that I'd sent the information to the National Grid rather than my electric company!  I figured that as I had all the folders out anyway, I'd go through them all and make sure that everything was filed in the right place.  I'm more organised now, I've just gotta go through each folder and put it in date order now, but that's not the job to start just before bedtime lol


I've also put one of the new hand towels in the bathroom and put my new candle, holder and elephant with fake plant that I bought in memory of Steve up on the shelf too, so I've had a productive couple of hours!

Aaaand...

...relax!


I've just brought my groceries in so I'm in a great deal of pain, stiff, swollen, wobbly and just generally not good, but that's it done for another week now so I can start the recovery process until Saturday when I have my bath.


Got a me-friendly creamy drinking chocolate on the go but I'm so wobbly it's going everywhere... never mind though, eh?


Can someone remind me to email Broad Oak tomorrow afternoon if my central heating still hasn't kicked in please?  Gotta remember not to open my email programmes and to kick the weekly virus scan off, then the backups when it's finished and hopefully clear tomorrow.  If it finds viruses on my website backup and One Drive, I need to write down the location so that I can get them got good at last - I'm safe 'cos they're historical viruses that stopped with me thanks to my anti-virus programme, but I keep forgetting to write down where they are so that I can get rid of them properly once and for all.


My solar panels have produced £4.31 of energy since I last checked them this morning and they are now up to £87.70 since they were turned on about a week ago so that's my electricity paid for this month!


This blog post is waaaay too long, so I'm gonna shut up and publish it now then curl up under my sleeved blanket.

Today's (26th March 2024) breakfast photo

Today's breakfast was my usual two slices of wholemeal toast with dairy-free spread and smooooth peanut butter on each slice, two packets of apple & grapes and my standard bottle of orange juice.  I've also had a pre-breakfast decaff mocha, 100g of choco peanuts and a strongly caffeinated (judging by how it's already affecting me) black coffee this morning.  I realised (again) that the drinking chocolate has got about 8g of protein in it, which is all the excuse I need to make that my drink of choice every day instead of coffee lol
