Book Review: "Country Doctor: Hilarious True Stories from a Rural Practice" by Michael Sparrow

Kindle     Hardback     Paperback

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5 stars

If you've read any of my other more recent book reviews from the last couple of years or so, you'll already know that I start them all off by saying that every book starts off with the full surgery-load of stars and that I'm forever hopeful that they will all be stuck firmly in place by the time I close the back cover.  This review is no different.

What a great start to the book... I've read 21 pages and barely paused to breathe!  Have I already got a potential 5 star book on my hands?  I really hope so!

I'm up to page 59 (chapter 4) now and I'm loving every word of this book so far!  I've still got 200 pages to read but so far so brilliant!

I'm not usually a fan of violence but that person had it coming to them for a very long time!

Chapter 7 (page 101) and I'm hoping to read one last chapter before bedtime.

Chapter 8 (page 118) and a particularly gross chapter to finish on, but that's me done reading for the day now.

Page 137 finished a chapter that was pretty gross... definitely not the kinda chapter to read around the time you eat... it's gonna be a struggle keeping my lunch in my stomach when I have it!

That was a lucky escape then!  It wasn't gross either, so my lunch is still in my stomach.

Just finished page 175 and it was a shock... I've never been the most house-proud of people, but you've always been able to climb the stairs!

Page 195 and I can go to bed with a sad smile on my face and a sense of closure in my heart.  There are about 60 pages left to read tomorrow then I can put this great book down with hopefully a relieved smile on my face.

Oh my!  What an incredibly sobering chapter to start the day off with!

Up to page 225 now, I have the same problem with some Welsh (and Scottish) accents and I'm stopping for lunch now I reckon.

Woah!  Chapter 14 came out of nowhere!!  No spoilers, don't worry, but hold on to your hat when you get there!

I hope you've got a dark sense of humour for chapter 15?!

What a way to end an incredible book!  I didn't see the last page coming at all and it's brought a guilty smile to my face lol
