Just as a break from tinned baked beans and tinned spaghetti, I figured I'd take advantage of the "five for a fiver" deal that was on the soups and popped 3 plant based cream of tomato and 2 lentil tins into my basket. They were all in stock on Tuesday, so I'm all set for quick and easy lunches that my carers can make in under 10 minutes until Wednesday now.
I figured I'd start off the experiment with the tomato soup today then the lentil one tomorrow and have a different one each day. Hadn't been able to risk tinned soups for yeeeeears 'cos of my allergy so was very cautious about trying these ones, but I carefully checked each ingredient on both varieties and they are both suitable for vegans so in theory they are suitable for me.
I find soya to be quite a strong flavour so was nervous about it overpowering the tomato flavour but I was wrong... it *was* still a strong soya flavour but there was definitely a hint of tomato in it too, so that's OK.
I finished off my lunch with the last two royal gala apples and it'll be wonky pears for my pud tomorrow.
