...she's putting in an urgent referral to enablement and carers by the end of this week. She said it might be pushing it, but she considers this to be urgent so she's gonna do everything she can to get things sorted before the end of the week for me for a start.
She's gonna take things slowly so that I don't get overwhelmed, but hopefully by the end of the week I'll have a female carer coming in every day to help me get washed and dressed and another carer at lunchtime to cook my lunch for me.
She's taken my PIP answers with her to have a read of and she's gonna chase up the enablers to come out and assess ways of how they can help me to stay living here alone with adaptions and support and benefit applications and everything else, but I'm not going to have to struggle with anything alone hopefully as of the end of this week.
She mentioned about my lack of social life so she's gonna look into people taking me out and about just for a coffee or whatever, but she wants me to start to feel more included and part of the community in Gloucester but wants me to feel better in myself first.
She's gonna look into mental health support as well as brain injury support and I think she said she was gonna look into neurological support too.
Basically she's gonna get on the case of every available support network for me that will hopefully start as of the end of this week.
She was shocked that I hadn't seen my mum or brother since 2010 and that I didn't have any friends here despite living in Gloucester for 25 years.
Basically, things are gonna move ahead rapidly as of now and I'm not gonna be expected to cope alone any more. I said that my only friends were in Bristol and that my in-laws had been absolutely fantastic to me but that I need to get into a new routine of living independently now.
I might even be able to get a "young geek" to help me to feel confident with technology too but I don't think that's anything official lol
Basically, I've got a powerhouse in my corner now, and her name is Claire.
I'm feeling more empowered already. I can do this... with lotsa support, but I can do this and it doesn't have to be alone any more.
I've already had an enabler on the phone and she's coming out to see me on Thursday which is rapid by anyone's standards considering the social worker only left about half an hour ago!!
I'll hopefully be able to finish my lunch (a packet of crisps) now lol
