If you're a long-time reader of my blog, you'll know that I've offered all kinds of stuff on Freegle.
Most people are good and reliable but there are some who see the word "free" and decide to take advantage of it.
Someone in my area has, 15 hours ago posted a wanted ad for a king-size bed (including matress) that is ideally brand new or unused and metallic.
Someone else, a few weeks ago posted a wanted for kitchen items which is pots and pans and things like that which is fair enough. I read the message and they wanted a fridge-freezer, an oven, a microwave, a washing machine, tumble dryer and TV.
The rules on Freegle state that you should offer 3 things for every 1 wanted you post. I've offered 225 things and not a single wanted. The person basically wanting a new kitchen hadn't offered anything and had 5 wanted adverts.
I gave something to someone a few weeks ago and they came to the door to pick it up and wanted to have a look at the other things I had on offer, which at the time was just the old hallway mat so I asked them to hold on while I got it for them and they were like "just your telly and smartphones and tablets and laptops and things like that"! I explained that they were all PAST offers that I'd given away and hadn't been available for months and they were like "but it's on your profile that they are available!" so I spent a good few minutes explaining that they had been previous offers that had been snapped up a looong time ago and that all I was offering at the time was what was on the Freegle site NOT on my profile!!
They disappeared into the night disappointed and I rapidly changed the capitalisation of the "In the past" bit lol
Some people take advantage of other's kindness and it shouldn't be that way.
