I've been awake for exactly an hour now and done nothing but drink half a litre of sugar and care for my carer in that time. I'm charging up my FitBit and running the daily virus scan, while trying to come up with some ideas of foods I can eat when Steve has chicken now that he's pre-diabetic. I'll be able to have eggs and certain veggies, but nothing else 'cos I'm vegetarian and allergic to dairy.
We've got the best part of 2kg to get rid of that Steve can't have any more and I have very little of. There are only certain fruits that Steve can have now so I'll be limited to those too. Steve doesn't like mushrooms or squashes so I can't have those stuffed... I really will just be living on boiled vegetables every day because Steve doesn't like tofu and I don't think he'll be able to have the soya stuff any more either, so while Steve's having full meals with meat and vegetables, I'll just be having the vegetables.
Are any of my blog readers (pre-) diabetic and allergic to dairy that can give me some ideas of things that I can have as well as Steve please? I don't like having my vegetarian stuff cooking on the same tray as meat 'cos it ends up (to me at least) tasting of meat and I won't eat it then, so it needs to be able to be done at the same time as Steve's food and not more than one other pan/tray because I won't be stable enough to deal with my own as well as Steve's stuff.
We won't be having pasta or rice any more either and I doubt we'll be able to have pasta/curry/chilli sauces so I'm all out of ideas other than having a plate full of veg for every meal.
I know pre-diabetics can have granola, so breakfasts are OK, it's just lunches and Steve's tea's is all.
I'll be able to keep my calories up with dry roasted peanuts, but they are far from a proper meal which'll screw my health up again, but needs must I suppose.
Our groceries are due this morning and I'm predicting that I'll be doing most/all of the putting away again, just like every other week.
Time to take my pills now... or should I wait until my normal time of 7am please?
