...menu's sorted for the next 3 weeks and other than a Quorn Roast and packet of frozen vegetables there's nothing else that we needed to add to the grocery orders. It's a good job I checked next week's menu today though 'cos there are 2 pasta meals on there that need pasta sauce and we ain't got any! Steve's added a couple of jars to the order and we've done a bit of rearranging with the start of the week's meals, but other than those 4 things, our entire menu for most of the rest of March is using stuff we've already got in the house. As long as we stick pretty rigidly to the menu's then we'll be going to Iceland at the end of March so that, in theory at least, we just need to restock the fridge and cupboard each week which will hopefully be cheaper too for my bank balance 😁
There are maybe 3 or 4 meals that I'll need my carer's supervision for and I'm not willing to go anywhere near the roast but 4-5 meals out of 21 is pretty good going I reckon!
I've even allowed for a celebratory take-away on the 13th to give me a break from cooking and to inspire us to keep emptying the freezer and cupboard of food that we've already got. It's within sniffing distance now, I just need to keep being Mrs Motivator for the food that I need supervision to cook (and the roast, of course) but the majority of it I can do alone now 'cos my carer won't want to cook but will lay the guilt trip on thick and fast if I don't do the cooking.
I can't remember the last time he cooked a meal for both of us, despite telling everyone that he "cooks all her meals and makes all her drinks for her". Other than the squash a couple of times a week, the last time he made a drink for me was before NaNo in November last year❗❗
